"Universal Design is the design and composition of an environment so that it can be accessed, understood and used to the greatest extent possible by all people regardless of their age, size, ability or disability. Unfortunately, many building designs do not feature universal design, which causes accessibility issues and unnecessary barriers in living spaces.

Every part of your home should meet your needs. Accessibility in the home environment means that every part of your home is designed for your safety, comfort, and convenience. Cabinets should always be within reach; lighting and contrast should always be sufficient for you to easily see what you are doing; furniture and stairs should never create a barrier or fall risk.
